Getting Started

Connecting your Google account

GA4 Audits uses Google OAuth to read your analytics data. The whole process takes under 30 seconds and requires only read-only access — we can never modify your property.

Step 1: Click "Sign in with Google"

On the sign-in page, click the "Continue with Google" button. You'll be redirected to Google's standard OAuth consent screen. Use the Google account that has access to the GA4 properties you want to audit — this is typically your work Google account or the account listed as a property user in GA4.

What the permission screen shows

Google's consent screen will list the specific permissions being requested. GA4 Audits requests the analytics.readonly scope, which permits reading GA4 property data, reports, and configuration — nothing else.

GA4 Audits does not request access to Gmail, Drive, Google Ads, YouTube, or any other Google service. If you see anything other than analytics.readonly listed, please contact support before proceeding.

Granting access

Click "Allow" on Google's permission screen. You'll be redirected back to GA4 Audits where your account is now connected. The GA4 properties associated with your Google account will be available in the property selector on the next step.

If your organisation uses Google Workspace, your administrator may have restricted third-party OAuth apps. In that case, you'll see a message from Google saying the app hasn't been verified by your administrator. Ask your Google Workspace admin to allow GA4 Audits, or connect with a personal Google account that has been granted access to the GA4 property.

Troubleshooting access errors

If you see "Access denied" or "You don't have permission" after connecting, the most common causes are:

  • The Google account you used doesn't have at least Viewer access on any GA4 property.
  • Your Google Workspace administrator has blocked third-party OAuth apps.
  • You clicked "Deny" on Google's permission screen — try again and click Allow.
  • The OAuth session expired — try signing out and signing back in.

To verify your access level, open Google Analytics, navigate to Admin, and check that your account appears under Property Access Management with at least the Viewer role.

Revoking access later

You can remove GA4 Audits' access to your Google account at any time by visiting myaccount.google.com/permissions, finding GA4 Audits in the list, and clicking Remove Access. This immediately stops any future data access. Your existing audit results remain in your account.
