Getting Started
Adding your first GA4 property
Once your Google account is connected, the next step is selecting which GA4 property you want to audit. Here's what to expect during setup.
Selecting a GA4 property
After connecting your Google account, GA4 Audits fetches the list of GA4 properties your account has access to via the Google Analytics Admin API. This list is drawn from every Google Analytics account your Google user is a member of — including any properties where you have at least the Viewer role.
From the property dropdown, select the GA4 property you want to audit. If you manage multiple accounts or properties, use the search field to filter by property name or numeric property ID. Note that UA (Universal Analytics) properties are not supported — GA4 Audits is built exclusively for GA4.
Choosing a data stream
Each GA4 property can have multiple data streams (web, iOS, Android). Once you select a property, GA4 Audits will show a second dropdown listing all available data streams. For most websites, there will be a single web data stream — select that one.
The data stream selection matters for the Tag & Consent Validation module, which uses the stream's website URL to know which site to crawl. If the stream URL is incorrect or missing, consent and tag checks will be skipped. You can update the URL from the property settings page after adding the property.
What happens after you add the property
Once you confirm the property and data stream, GA4 Audits saves the configuration to your account. The property now appears on your dashboard. You can add multiple properties to a single account (limits depend on your plan).
GA4 Audits does not automatically run an audit when you add a property. You'll need to click "Start Audit" from the property dashboard to kick off your first audit run. This gives you a chance to review settings — such as confirming the website URL for crawling — before spending an audit credit.
I can't see my property in the list
If a property you expect to see is missing, check the following:
- Confirm the Google account you connected has at least Viewer access on that property in GA4's Admin panel.
- The property must be a GA4 property, not a Universal Analytics property.
- If you were recently granted access, try disconnecting and reconnecting your Google account to force a fresh token.
- If your organisation uses Google Workspace, the property may be under a different account — verify which Google account has access.
Minimum data requirements
GA4 Audits works best on properties with at least 7 days of recent data. Brand-new properties may produce incomplete results for data quality and event checks. The Property Configuration module will still run fully on new properties, as it checks settings rather than data.
